Our Hardwood Moulding collection features premium profiles carved from FAS and Select grade hardwood. These solid wood trims are ideal for projects that demand durability, stain-grade quality, and natural beauty. Available in species like oak, maple, cherry, and poplar, they’re well-suited for high-end interiors, historic renovations, or any application where appearance and longevity matter. These mouldings take stain and finish exceptionally well and offer crisp details without compromise.
What Does FAS/Select Grade mean?
Our hardwood moulding is crafted from FAS (First and Seconds) and Select grade lumber, the two highest classifications recognized by the National Hardwood Lumber Association. FAS wood offers long, clear cuts with minimal knots or defects, making it ideal for visible architectural applications where consistency and clean grain patterns are critical. Select grade is slightly below FAS in yield but still provides excellent appearance, typically with one clear face and minimal imperfections on the reverse. Using these premium grades ensures our moulding is not only structurally sound but also visually refined, with fewer defects, better color uniformity, and more predictable performance in installation and finishing.
What Hardwood Species do you Offer?
Hardwood Species (FAS Grade)
Alder
Lightweight, with a fine, even grain and a pale reddish-brown tone that darkens over time. Takes stain well and is popular for furniture and interior trim with a warm, natural finish.
Knotty Alder
Same base characteristics as Alder but with prominent knots and rustic character. Often used in casual or craftsman-style interiors. Accepts stains and glazes effectively.
Cherry
Known for its smooth grain, rich color, and natural luster. Deepens to a reddish-brown patina with age. Ideal for high-end trim, cabinetry, and traditional interiors.
Poplar
Straight-grained, stable, and easy to machine or paint. Cream to greenish-brown in color. Widely used for paint-grade moulding due to its affordability and smooth surface.
White Oak
Hard, dense, and highly durable. Light to medium brown with a coarse, straight grain. Excellent for stain-grade moulding in both traditional and modern interiors.
Red Oak
Strong and slightly more open-grained than white oak. Reddish undertones with good stain absorption. A cost-effective, classic choice for hardwood trim.
Maple
Very hard and dense with a fine, uniform grain. Naturally light in color. Preferred for clean, contemporary interiors and high-durability applications. Can be tricky to stain evenly.
Walnut
Dark, rich brown with beautiful grain variation. Stable and easy to work. Used for premium applications where visual impact is a priority. Accepts clear finishes well.
Sapele Mahogany
A dense, reddish-brown hardwood with interlocked grain and high natural luster. Durable, stable, and commonly used as a mahogany substitute. Excellent for high-end millwork.
Pine (Clear)
Softwood with a light color and subtle grain. Easy to cut and nail. Best for paint-grade work or rustic applications when clear-coated. Less stable than hardwoods but cost-effective.
Select Grade - Primed Fingerjoint Pine
Pre-primed, jointed from smaller clear pine blocks for added stability and straightness. Designed for efficient installation and a clean painted finish. Cost-effective, with fewer defects and reduced waste. Ideal for residential and commercial paint-grade applications.
