Our Waterproof Moulding collection includes all profiles made from PVC and Urethane: materials designed to resist moisture, rot, and insects. These products are ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and exterior applications where wood would warp or deteriorate. In addition to their resilience, they offer crisp, detailed profiles that paint cleanly and install easily with standard tools. Whether you're trimming a shower wall or finishing an outdoor ceiling, this is where you’ll find long-lasting, maintenance-friendly options.
What's the Difference Between PVC and Urethane?
Both urethane and PVC moulding are moisture-resistant, making them ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, exteriors, and other high-humidity environments. But the differences go beyond just water resistance.
Urethane Moulding
Made from high-density polyurethane foam, urethane moulding is lightweight, paintable, and easy to cut with standard woodworking tools. It’s molded to precise detail, making it a strong choice for decorative trim with complex profiles. It holds paint well, doesn’t warp or crack from humidity, and installs similarly to wood. However, it can dent under impact, and is the more expensive of the two options.
PVC Moulding
PVC moulding is made from solid polyvinyl chloride and is completely impervious to water. It’s more rigid and durable than urethane, with better resistance to dents and physical damage. It won’t rot, swell, or split, even in direct contact with water. It’s ideal for exterior use or harsh environments. However, PVC requires more care when painting (especially darker colors) due to thermal expansion, and its weight and density make it a bit harder to mill cleanly compared to urethane.
In short:
Urethane is better for detailed profiles and DIY projects
PVC is better for high-impact areas or budget-projects
